A Challenge to the Widely Held View That LDL-Cholesterol Causes Cardiovascular Disease
A video by Dr. David Diamond
A friend sent me an invitation to an eye-opening health webinar last week. Here is the link. (You can safely skip approximately the first 20 minutes, while they are doing the setup for the event.)
Here is the blurb: “What if everything believed about cholesterol and heart disease is wrong? Dr. David Diamond will break down the cracks in the LDL-C theory, reveal why insulin resistance and coronary artery calcium expose risk far better than lipids, and show how targeting hypercoagulation changes the game in preventing cardiovascular disease.”
The lipid hypothesis goes as follows:
Saturated fats in your diet become cholesterol in your blood.
Cholesterol in your blood causes heart attacks.
What if both of those inferences were incorrect? Dr. Diamond reviews the evidence.
As I’ve said before, it seems to be more important to reduce the ratio triglycerides divided by HDL, than it is to reduce total cholesterol. Indeed, cholesterol may have a protective effect.
You can read more on this controversial topic in the book “The Cholesterol Myth”.

The enemies of health appear to be inflammation and insulin resistance. This affects not only cardiovascular health, but cancer, cognitive health, the endocrine system, the immune system, and more: basically, most chronic health concerns.
In our home, we have substantially reduced sweets, and are eating as much anti-inflammatory, low-glycemic, low-oxalate, non-GMO organic food as possible. The doctors in the video tend to eat more carnivorous than anything else.
I am not a doctor. I am just sharing with you what I have read and learned. Consult with a trusted health care provider before making any decisions.
Another interesting book is The Contagion Myth. :)
The Weston A. Price Foundation has some interesting information on cholesterol. I don’t agree with everything the WAPF recommends, since Torah standards are my baseline, but there is a lot I can agree with them about. Their website is searchable.
