President Donald Trump must be quivering in his shoes - NOT! - as he withstands threats from Tucker Qatarlson, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Alex Jones, Thomas Massie, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Candace Owens, Rashida Tlaib. The extremes are at it again; see my last column.
They are promising that this time - this time! - it’s true; the MAGA coalition is crumbling. That dire prediction itself crumbled in this poll and also in this poll. Apparently the MAGA base trusts Trump, rather than Qatarlson, to protect America.
As I said last time, this war started in 1979, and America has not fired a shot in retaliation, even when Iranian-manufactured IEDs were blowing up American servicemen in the Middle East. How does that make America great again?
The extremes respond that we essentially had it coming. In the words of President Reagan, they are the “blame America first” crowd, and it matters not whether they are Democrats or Republicans.
The mistake of the neocons and neolibs was to engage in nation-building, hoping to win hearts and minds. That was the forever war, not the defeat of a hostile government.
With regard to nation-building, America was successful in Germany and Japan, but that came at a much greater cost to both sides of that war. Our Western civic structure holds little appeal in today’s Middle East, dominated by the Muslim Brotherhood, with the exception of a few countries, like the United Arab Emirates, that have decided to make a decisive break with jihadism. Iran could easily be one of those countries, once the people are free of the secret police.
“America should not be the world’s police!” Who should be the world’s police, then? “The world doesn’t need police!” A world without police is the world of Nazi Germany, Imperial Japan, the Soviet Union, the People’s Republic of China, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the Muslim Brotherhood. The entire world inexorably deteriorates when evil is not confronted with deadly force.
The appeasers of jihad have one more tactic in their arsenal. They attempt to shame anyone who is not currently serving in the military. They argue that if you have nothing at stake, then you should not be making decisions about war.
I have two questions.
Do you believe that civilians should control the military, or should the military be autonomous and make its own decisions about war?
Have you ever served in the police or fire departments? No? Then you have no right to call the police or firemen for assistance, demanding that they risk their lives for you. Absurd! This is their job.
Little Israel should not have to bear this burden alone on behalf of the civilized world. I fully trust that if President Trump does commit our troops to destroy Iran’s nuclear program, it will be done with overwhelming, irresistible force. He should do so.

Here is another poll showing massive bi-partisan support for ending Iran's nuclear program: https://www.cnn.com/2025/06/18/world/video/poll-iran-nuclear-weapons-us-strikes-enten-digvid
