It has to be left alone because, here in the UK, the dark winter mornings mean that children would be walking to school in the dark. So choice is no change but 1 if anything.

Wow. I just got a cancelled subscription right after publishing this article. That sometimes happens after I write about controversial political subjects. It has never happened after writing about something as bland as daylight saving time. I wonder what irritated that reader? Hm.

I will vote for option 3. It's bad enough that winter is dreary, but getting dark at 5 pm or so is really depressing. I am not an early riser, so I would love longer daylight in the summer.

I don't know which one is which, but during winter, they change the time and then around 17:30 when I want to go out and do my bike ride before dinner it is already dark, and that pisses me off. So, I am all for not jacking with it during the winter and leaving it the way it is right now. The "shock" of the one hour change doesn't bug me much. Back in the ages of ancient wristwatch technology though, before the rise of the phones, I missed teaching my class once (as GTA) because of the time change. That sucked. So, nails it for me. Leave time alone.

Dr. LF, are you choosing option 1 or 2, or a blend between them as I did?

I choose sticking with the timezone we are using right now, I just don't remember which one is which for terminology. The only good thing about the time change is that it is fun to push a few buttons on my car to correct the clock. I can't think of any other good benefit; in all other respects, it is annoying.
