I was a child when President Nixon signed the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act, and created the Environmental Protection Agency; seriously considered a negative income tax for the poor (providing them a stipend); saved Israel from destruction in 1973; and laid the grounds for an end to the Vietnam War. But the left hysterically insisted Nixon was the most corrupt politician ever (not even close).
I was a young man when President Reagan signed immigration reform legislation in 1986 that resulted in mass amnesty for illegal aliens. But the left hysterically insisted that he feverishly desired to initiate a nuclear war that would kill all humanity.
I was a middle-aged man when President Bush (43) signed legislation to ban incandescent light bulbs, and worked very hard to create a third Palestinian state (in addition to Jordan and Israel; the new state would ban Jews, just like Jordan). But the hysterical left called him Bushitler.
I am approaching retirement when President Trump, who campaigned on mass deportation of the 30 million illegal aliens in America, floated the idea of a mass amnesty instead. He has pressured Israel into ending its military campaign to recover the hostages kidnapped by Hamas. He has graciously permitted Iran’s government to create a $21 million bounty on his own life. The left is more hysterical than at any time in my life.
Appeasement of communists, jihadists, and fascists never works. They must be defeated. As the Jewish sages have taught us, those who are kind to the cruel will end up inevitably being cruel to the kind.
In the psychotic world of politics, there is no such thing as a compromise. If there are two parties involved, only one side actually gives in or up. The other party is given a "bone" to polish, so they can claim to have "won", when in reality they have lost. If you compromise with an extreme political entity, you have lost. Appeasement and compromise work on similar principle: they are a forfeiture of moral/ethics grounds.
Sadly true!
